Rhiannon Covers Kathy Mattea

Rhiannon Giddens and Francesco Turrisi performed "Last Night I Dreamed of Loving You" on our 2020 livestream show, 'Whiskey Sour Happy Hour.'

In the spring of 2020, on an episode of BGS’s virtual happy hour variety show, the Whiskey Sour Happy Hour, Rhiannon Giddens and Francesco Turrisi brought us a stunning and haunting version of “Last Night I Dreamed of Loving You.”

The song was written by Hugh Moffatt and was something of a bluegrass hit, recorded by the likes of the Nashville Bluegrass Band, before it was made ever-more popular by Kathy Mattea – whom Giddens was “obsessed” with way back at the start of her love affair with country music.
